Fall is the time we experience refreshing and cool morning breezes, the smell of crisp, newly fallen leaves and, of course, the time to break out the autumn wardrobe. While the season will always have its essential pieces (warm and cozy sweaters, the classic little black dress, and the traditional, white button down, long-sleeved shirt) what are some trends we can expect to see this fall?
Why carry a large purse when everything can fit into a smaller bag? Wristlets are back. TheFashionSpot.com indicates the mini-bag trend continues with the return of the wristlet. “While the classic zip-purse-with-wrist-strap silhouette is still around, the newest versions of the trend include stacked, boxy styles as well as thicker-strapped ladylike options.”
Liquid leather jackets or blazers are a popular trend for fall and will most likely stay around for a while. Kathy Cadieux, owner of Creative Elegance Boutique says, “Liquid leather blazers go well with a pair of jeans for a dressed-up night out or over a sleeveless dress that can be worn for work or a cocktail party. It is a versatile piece.”
Was faux fur ever not popular? Cadieux says you will find it on collars of tops, on the bottoms of sleeves and scarves, and as an added embellishment on dresses and jackets.
Denim can be found in nearly everyone’s closet or dresser drawers in some form or another. Harper’s Bazaar reports the traditional Americana-wear is taking center stage this fall in different capacities. “Fall is a huge advocate of the Texas tuxedo so prepare to wear your faded blue jeans from head to toe.”
Shades of Wine
According to WhoWhatWear.com, shades of your favorite red are the season’s hot colors. Grenadine and tawny port top the list of the hues we will see in stores.
Velvet is popular this fall. Cadieux recommends pairing a velvet suit with a silk blouse and a long pendant necklace to complete the trendy look.
